On the call given by the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab, young doctors accompanied by activists of different political parties including PPP and PTI took out a rally from the Services Hospital to the Governor House on Wednesday to press the government for the acceptance of their demands including provision of free medicines to people and repair of medical equipment in government hospitals.
The participants marched to the Governor House, causing a massive traffic jam on the Jail Road and adjoining arteries at peak hours much to the inconvenience to people hailing from different walks of life. Led by YDA representatives, young doctors chanted slogans in favour of their demands and against the Punjab government.
They vowed to continue their peaceful protest until the acceptance of their just demands. The representatives of YDA met Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood at Governor House and apprised him of their demands. After meeting with the governor, the young doctors went back to their hunger strike camp near Services Hospital.
