Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that soon a business friendly environment would evolve in Pakistan with transition from one democratic government to another as economic situation would surely improve in the aftermath of democracy taking its roots in the country. This he said as the chief guest at the ceremony of third Global CEO Excellence Awards-2013 organised by Global Media Links (GML) and Better Pakistan Forum.
On the occasion, senior leadership of some 45 leading companies, including some multinationals, were awarded the third Global CEO Excellence Awards-2013 at the splendid award ceremony. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro gave away the awards to Chairmen and CEOs of successful companies. The awards were conferred in various categories of innovative corporate leadership demonstrated by chairmen and CEOs of large, medium, and small enterprises, industries and organisations.
In his address on the occasion, Khuhro warmly congratulated the award winning companies and exhorted their senior managements to continue with their good work for uplift of the national economy and trade sectors. He enumerated achievements of the government completing its five-year constitutional term, for resolving major socio-economic issues of the masses and support in this regard given to traders and businessmen for promotion and progress of business and industrial sections of the national economy.
He also congratulated the GML's management for conceiving the idea of holding first Multinational CEO Excellence Awards 2013 in the current year as a formal way for recognising and honouring foreign-national heads of multinational companies working in Pakistan as culture of foreign investment would surely grow in the country due to their (foreign CEOs) continued presence.
Another major announcement on the occasion, made by Asim Siddiqi, Adviser and Chairman of international events division of Better Pakistan Forum, was regarding the soon holding of Multinational CEO Excellence Awards by Better Pakistan Forum in latter part of the year for honouring officiating foreign-national heads of 30 leading and distinguished multinational companies working in Pakistan.
For selecting 30 coveted winners of Multinational CEO Excellence Awards, Siddiqi said GML's team would extensively browse through profiles/corporate prospectuses/achievements of over 100 multinational organisations and their respective top business leadership active in Pakistan. These outstanding multinationals will be given awards as they ensure continuance and further convergence of foreign investment in Pakistan where often issues related to law and order and energy shortfall hinder commercial, industrial, economic progress of the country.
Siddiqi, Chairman, Siddiqi Group of Companies elaborated that third Global CEO Excellence Awards recognise successful business leaders whose visions, directions and actions became success role models for the upcoming generations. He said the awards had been instituted to properly discover and reward leadership excellence demonstrated by distinguished individuals and organisations in Pakistan. The awards programme was the first of its kind in Pakistan, where nominees were selected through a professionally handled process and were adjudged according to internationally accepted standards and principles of leadership excellence.
A prominent feature of the programme was the holding of "Global Innovative Business Leadership Summit" also organised on sidelines of the award ceremony the same day. Asim Siddiqi, Chairman, Siddiqi Group of Companies; Kaleem Siddiqui, chairman Better Pakistan Forum and Malik Khuda Bukhss, Chief Adviser, Global Media Links were three of the important panellists of Innovative Business Leadership Summit. This summit was also addressed by other leaders of some of the eminent organisations.
