Opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Tuesday said that there is an agreement of all opposition parties on floating two names for the slot caretaker prime minister. "Out of the two names, there is a dispute over one name of the caretaker PM and that he would respond to the letter of the Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on the caretaker prime minister soon," Nisar said while talking to reporters at Raiwind today.
Sources claimed that the ruling PPP and opposition PML-N have been in an informal consultation process for the last one month over the caretaker set-up. Syed Khursheed Shah of the PPP and Ishaq Dar of the PML-N were holding behind-the-scene talks over the matter, sources claimed. It may be noted that Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf had already written a letter to the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for holding talks to finalise the two names of the possible candidates for the post of interim prime minister. As per Constitution, the leader of the house (prime minister) and the leader of the opposition each will forward two names to select one for the slot of the caretaker prime minister.
Nisar further said that Imran Khan had earlier floated the names of Razzaq Dawood and Shoaib Suddle for the slot of caretaker prime minister but later he backed out. "We would approach PTI through Jamaat-i-Islami in this regard," he said. The opposition leader further said that the opposition would also float two names for caretaker set up in Sindh.
