Sindh Minister for Archives and Special Education and Pakistan Peo-ple's Party (PPP) leader, Rafique Engi-neer, passed away here on Tuesday due to cardiac arrest, family members said. "Rafique suffered a heart attack at his home early Tuesday morning, which proved fatal. He was shifted to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead," they said.
Rafique was an old guard of PPP and was elected MPA from PS-109, Karachi in 2008's general elections. The funeral prayer of late Engineer was offered after Asr prayer in Chakewara mosque, Lyari. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and others expressed their condolences on the death of Rafique Engineer.
Qaim Ali Shah visited Rafique's residence and met his family members to express condolence with them. Provincial Ministers Pir Mazharul Haq, Jam Mehtab Dahar, Dr Mohan Lal and others besides provincial advisors also accompanied the chief minister. Later, talking to media, the Chief Minister said that Rafique Engineer was a devoted and dedicated worker of the party and actively participated in the long struggle for restoration and strengthening of democracy in the country.
