The Federal Board of Revenue will send special teams of customs officers to Gilgit-Baltistan and Swat-Mingora areas to guide the general public about the procedure for legalisation of non-duty paid smuggled vehicles under SRO.172(1)/2013. Sources told Business Recorder here on Wednesday that a large number of non-duty paid smuggled vehicles are plying in the areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Swat-Mingora.
It is not practically possible for the citizens of these areas to come to far flung customs stations or Model Customs Collectorates for the legalization of non-duty paid smuggled vehicles under SRO.172(1)/2013. The FBR has decided to start a large scale campaign to create awareness about the scheme among the general public. The FBR will immediately dispatch special teams of customs officers to Gilgit-Baltistan and Swat-Mingora areas to create awareness among people having non-duty paid smuggled vehicles in these areas.
The special teams would approach the owners of non-duty paid smuggled vehicles to guide them on the legal and procedural aspects of the SRO.172(1)/2013. These persons would be able to legalise their vehicles at Mardan or Peshawar without facing any problems as per provisions of the SRO.172(1)/2013, sources added.
