Two Rangers personnel, ANP man among 11 killed in Karachi

At least 11 people including two Rangers' personnel and a local Awami National Party (ANP) leader were killed in incidents of violence in the city on Thursday, police and rescue sources said. Police said that bodies of two Rangers' personnel, who were abducted from Lyari area three days ago, were recovered from Gutter Baghecha area near KMC flats in the limits of Pak Colony police station.
The deceased were identified as Hawaldar Ejaz Baloch son of Rafiq Baloch and Hawaldar Munir son of Dad Muhammad. Police said both the victims were tortured to death by unknown men, who later threw their bodies at an abandon place. Both the personnel were deputed in intelligence wing of Sindh Rangers. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. Ejaz hailed from Lasbella while Munir hailed from Panno Aqil. After completion of legal formalities, funeral prayer of the victims was offered in Malir halt area and later the bodies were sent to their native towns.
Another body of a labourer was also recovered from Gutter Baghecha area, who was later identified as Abdul Sattar, 40, son of Mohammad Hayat. He hailed from Multan. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal examinations.
In another incident, a man was gunned down in Gulshan-e-Ghazi, Baldia in the limits of Mochko police station. Police said unknown armed men shot him dead before fleeing from the crime scene. He was identified as Muhammad Javed, 42, son of Muhammad Shabbir. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for post-mortem. Police said that personal enmity was behind the killing.
In addition to this, a man was shot and killed outside his home in Khokhrapar No 4 in the jurisdiction of Khokhrapar police station. The deceased was identified as Aleem, 40, son of Ashraf. Police said that the victim was sitting outside his house when armed men targeted him with multiple gunshots, killing him on the spot and fled. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. He left behind four children and widow.
Separately, a policeman was gunned down in Bhitaiabad Colony, Gulistan-e-Jauhar in the limits of Sachal police station. The deceased was identified as Mehram Ali Channer, 45, son of Ishaq Ali. He was killed near his house. The body was shifted to JPMC for autopsy. Police suspected personal enmity behind the killing. Two strangulated bodies bearing torture marks were recovered from Northern bypass in the limits of Manghopir police station. The identities of the bodies were ascertained through the slips found from their possession. They were 22-year old Maqbool, son of Nawab, and 24-year old Babo Iftikhar, son of Mansoor. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a local leader of ANP was killed while three others injured in a firing incident in Ittehad Town in the limits of Mochko police station. The deceased was identified as Mujahid Khan Afridi, 52, son of Abdur Rehman while the injured were identified as Iqrar Khan, Inam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Idrees. Police said that unknown armed men targeted the deceased near a mosque while he was coming back after offering Maghrib prayer, leaving him dead while injuring three others. The deceased was Vice President of ANP Ittehad Town Ward. The body was moved to CHK for medico-legal formalities.
Two women were gunned down while another injured in Mehran Town area in the limits of Korangi Industrial area police station. The deceased were identified as Kareema, 55, and Dilara while the injured was identified as Yasmeen. Police said that unknown armed men barged into the house and killed them with multiple gunshots. The deceased and injured were shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
