The Iranian Consul General in Peshawar, Hassan Darvishvand, called on the Vice Chancellor of University of Peshawar Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan and discussed with him matters of mutual interest including implementation of Memorandum of Understandings signed between UoP and Iranian Universities in the recent past.
The visiting envoy showed his desire to arrange special short courses in Pashto and Urdu languages for the Iranian scholars at the University of Peshawar. He said Iran sees Pakistan as a closest brother country and will like to enhance the number of Iranian students' enrolment in UoP.
The University of Peshawar would welcome any step that may lead to improving relations between the two countries and learn from each other's experience in the relevant fields, said the Vice Chancellor. Now that we have laid down the basic framework in our MoU, all the Head of Departments at the University would be brought onboard to chalk out a plan for enhancing the student, teachers exchange programmes, he added.
The present phase of turbulence is a temporary one, and history reveals that all the countries of the world pass through it. For the time being we are cut off in crossfire from the non-state actors, but the youth of Pakistan have the requisite resilience to take the country out of crisis, he said.
