Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 100,353 tonnes of cargo comprising 59,585 tonnes of import cargo and 40,768 tonnes of export cargo including 3,268 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 59,585 tonnes comprised 23,050 tonnes of containerised cargo; 24,455 tonnes of general cargo; 12,080 tonnes of bulk cargo: 395 tonnes of canola; 2,303 tonnes of palm kernel and 9,382 tonnes of rock phosphate.
The total export cargo of 40,768 tonnes comprised 10,651 tonnes of containerised cargo; 900 tonnes of general cargo; 2,366 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,022 tonnes of cement; 1,344 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 26,851 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,268 containers comprising 1,926 containers import and 1,342 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 281 of 20's and 774 of 40's loaded while 77 of 20's and 10 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 291 of 20's and 210 of 40's loaded containers while 11 of 20's and 310 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are two ships namely Al Farahidi and Pacific Horizon with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are five vessels viz Tabea, APL Chicago, Tabernacle Prince, Oriental Margeriate and CMB Jialing with two container ships, one cement carrier, one oil tanker and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. There are five ships namely Tabea, Tan Binh-22, Arethusa, Oriental Margeriate and CMB Jialing with one container ship, one seeds carrier, one canola carrier, one oil tanker and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely APL Chicago, MT Quetta and Torm Amalie with one container ship, one oil tanker and one molases carrier respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
A container ship namely Maliakos due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz Cape Flores, Dong A Calypso, Constency, Manas and Pamisos with one container ship, one palm oil tanker, one chemicals carrier, one molasses carrier and one crude oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Saturday. There are two ships namely Akaki and Advance Victoris with crude oil tanker and one mogas carrier respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.

The total export cargo of 55,870 tonnes includes 15,970 tonnes of cement and 39,900 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,100 containers comprising 1,000 containers import and 2,100 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There are two ships namely CV City of Beijing and CV MSC Nilgun with containers are expected to sail on Friday afternoon. A total number of eight vessels viz CV MSC Nilgun, CV City of Beijing, CV Saigon Express, MV Mycenae, MV Anthea, MV Veruda, MV Lancelot and MT Mid Fishter are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, iron ore and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely Asian Express, Al-Salam-II and Asphalt Merchant with containers, diesel oil and Bitumen respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are six vessels viz CV Didem, CV Cape Flores, CV Maersk Georgia, MV Lincon Park, MV Topaz-II and MT Bunga Malati with containers, chemicals, cement and palm oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
