On the auspicious occasion of the inauguration of Darawat Dam Project, I wish to congratulate Ministry of Water and Power, WAPDA and all those who have been associated with the building of this project. I also wish to appreciate the Chinese contractors and Pakistani project consultants for their assistance in the completion of the project.
Energy and water are the most precious of resources. Energy shortages and water scarcity adversely impact on the growth of a country's economy. With a view to meeting power shortages and to conserve precious water resources particularly in the remote areas the Government has embarked upon a plan to construct a series of small and medium dams across the country. Darawat Dam project is one of such schemes.
It is heartening to note that the Darawat Dam Project has been completed in a short span of only three years. Besides producing power the Darawat Dam would conserve flood water of Nai Baran and help promote agriculture and fisheries development. I am confident that Darawat Dam will dawn a new era of progress and prosperity in the remote areas of Jamshoro and Thatta districts. Once again, I felicitate all those who have done commendable job of making the Darawat Dam Project a reality.
