Message from Federal Secretary Water & Power

It is a matter of satisfaction and pride for the Ministry of Water and Power, Government of Pakistan, and WAPDA to have Darawat Dam Project completed. The project, for which the ground-breaking ceremony was graced by the President Islamic Republic of Pakistan three years ago, is being inaugurated by the Honourable President today.
Darawat Dam Project has been constructed across Nai Baran in district Jamshoro of Sindh province. The project is of great importance for development of the remote areas in Sindh through irrigated agriculture. Main objectives of the project are to control floods, promote irrigated agriculture, poverty alleviation, socio-economic uplift of the people of the area, emancipation of women and create employment opportunities.
The Ministry of Water and Power and WAPDA are also engaged in constructing a number of water sector projects. Together with commitment and hard work, we are confident that these projects will also be completed in the shortest possible time to pave the way for prosperity.
