Missing persons: Commission recommends action against intelligence officials

The Commission on Enforced Disappearances (CED) has recommended to the government to take action against the former officials of intelligence agencies. The commission, headed by former Justice Javed Iqbal, has finalised a 204-page report that will soon be presented to the federal government.
In its report, the commission stated that a total of 621 persons went missing while 359 persons have been recovered so far. The commission highlighted abduction for ransom and domestic violence as some of the major reasons behind such cases. Out of 18, 16 persons in Islamabad, 130 out of 280 in Punjab, 24 out of 124 in Sindh, 123 out of 398 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 59 out of 107 in Balochistan while 12 and 9 people have been recovered from Fata and Azad Kashmir so far.
