CJP takes suo motu notice

The Supreme Court on Sunday sought a detailed report from Punjab's top legal officer and police chief on the events of March 9 in which 178 houses were burnt in a predominantly Christian locality in the Badami Bagh area in Lahore. The massive arson attack was triggered by an alleged blasphemy incident.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo motu notice of Saturday's attack and ordered the Advocate General and Inspector-General Punjab Police to appear before the apex court and submit a comprehensive report on March 11 (today).
