Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR (DG I&I) made a historic seizure of antiques of Gnadhara civilisation worth millions of dollars in the international market.
Sources said on Sunday that the landmark operation has been conducted by the customs intelligence officers to foil an attempt made by international gang of smugglers involved in smuggling of thousands of years old antiques. The credit goes to the entire team of intelligence officers, who timely intercepted consignment saving millions of dollars of national exchequer.
The precious antiques from Gandhara civilisation would remain in the country due to timely operation of the customs intelligence preserving historical sites of Pakistan.
Details revealed that a credible information was received by the Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR (DG I&I) that precious antiques will be smuggled from Islamabad to abroad via Karachi, the DG I&I passed on aforesaid information to the Deputy Director (I&I), Range Office, Sukkur to pursue and materialize the aforesaid information and to curb the smuggling of antiques. On which the DG I&I Range, Office, Sukkur intercepted the vehicle containing the antiques worth millions of dollars in the international market.
The investigation is in progress and racket will be unearthed very soon. However, it is pertinent to place on record that some of the antiques such as Budhas, Utensils etc are of Gnadhara history and seems to be thousands of years old.
