NRO implementation case: NAB counsel asked to complete arguments today

12 Mar, 2013

The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday directed the counsel for National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to complete his arguments in the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case by today (Tuesday).
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk expressed dissatisfaction at the investigation carried out by the NAB and asked KK Agha, the counsel for NAB, to further elaborate his statement on why the matter did not fall in the jurisdiction of the apex court.
Agha submitted that the chairman NAB had the prerogative to include or exclude the name of any individual from a reference. He said the names of Adnan Khawaja, Ahmed Riaz Sheikh Ismail Qureshi and Raja Ahsan were included in the reference. Justice Amir Hani Muslim asked the counsel to identify the recommendations made by the investigating officer of the case, to which KK Agha informed the bench that the officer had completed his recommendations and that he would submit them at the next date of hearing. Hearing was adjourned till Tuesday (today).
