Makai prices soar on grain market

Makai prices sharply higher on the wholesale grain market on Monday in the process of modest trading, dealers said. On the cereals side, Makai low type was up by Rs 140 to Rs 2815 and the best variety was higher by Rs 175 to Rs 2875, other commodity items held the overnight levels, they said.
On the rice sector, Irri-white (broken) gained Rs 100 to Rs 2900-2925 mainly because of strong demand from local consumers and importers as well, they said. On the seeds side, cottonseeds oilcake with bag Sindh (old) low type did not show any change at Rs 700 and the good type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 800, cottonseeds oilcakes Sindh (new) maintained overnight levels due to slow demand, they said. Rates unchanged on the grams sector, they added.
