Bullish sentiments dominated on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Tuesday where equities staged recovery and registered gains across the board amid improved trading turnover following fresh entries in bluechips and read board shares. The LSE-25 index was increased to 4237.77 against 4117.96 of Monday, showing a handful gain of 119.81 points while transaction volume was improved to 3.981 million shares compared with 3.688 million shares traded a day earlier.
The market was opened on a healthy sign and kept on rising throughout the day following fresh entries in bluechips and ready board shares. The investors stayed on buying course to pick potential scrips like Engro Corporation, Dawood Hercules Corporation, Fatima Fertiliser, Adamjee Insurance, Lucky Cement, D.G. Khan Cement, Lafarge Pakistan Cement, Fauji Cement, Maple Leaf Cement, National Bank, Highnoon Laboratories, Nishat Mills, Engro Foods, PIAC and WorldCall Telecom recorded handsome gains. However, Leiner Pak Gelatine, Bank Al-Habib and Faysal Bank remained under pressure.
The advancing stocks were ahead of the declining ones, as out of a total of 103 active issues, 40 companies posted gains, 3 registered losses while 60 companies stayed glue to their previous closing. Engro Corporation gained Rs 6.07, PPL was improved by Rs 5.35, Dawood Hercules Corporation was appreciated by Rs 2.55 while Adamjee Insurance and Lucky Cement were up by Rs 2.31 and Rs 1.89, respectively. Leiner Pak Gelatine lost Rs 1.03, Bank Al-Habib was declined by 10-paisa while Faysal Bank was down by 03-paisa. PIAC was the market leaders whose 1.248 million shares changed hands followed by Lafarge Pakistan Cement with 618,000 shares.
