At least seven persons were reportedly killed in different incidents of violence in the city on Thursday. A man named Nadeem, 36, was gunned down in Sector 7-D of Surjani Town. Three more people were critically injured in the same firing incident. Police said that the deceased was a fruit and vegetable vendor in the Sabzi Mandi.
According to the spokesperson of the Karachi chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami, the deceased was a Jamaat sympathiser. A man killed his father, Mureed Khan, 46, in the Safoora Goth area over a domestic dispute. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Another man, allegedly belonging to a banned outfit, was killed in an alleged police encounter in the Manghopir area. The deceased was later identified as Qari Bilal, 33.
Police claimed finding the body of Muhammad Nazeer, 27, off Hashim Raza Zaidi Road in Malir in the limits Model Colony police station. The deceased, who was killed after being kidnapped, lived in Surjani Town, police officials said. Bodies of two brothers - Abdullah, 29, and Wahid, 24 - were found from an abandoned spot near the Malir River in the limits of Khokhrapar police station. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Separately, the body of a beheaded man stuffed in a gunny bag was found near the Super Highway in the limits of Sachal police station. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till the filing of this report. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
