Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested six Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) men, involved in Abbas Town blast and other terrorist activities in the city.
DIG South Shahid Hayat while addressing a press conference at Central Police Office said that police following the information given by a federal intelligence agency conducted a raid in Defence View area and arrested two suspects identified as Khairuddin alias Mansoor and Inamullah Mehsud and recovered a car, two pistols and over 100 kilograms of explosives from their possession.
He said that the police also raided a house in Manghopir area on the information provided by the arrested accused during initial interrogation and arrested their four accomplices identified as Irfan, Inam Ullah, Bashir Ahmed and Sher Alam Mehsud. The raiding party also seized arms and explosive materials from the house, he added.
The DIG said that the suspects belonged to TTP and were involved in Abbas Town bomb blast and other terrorism incidents. During initial interrogation, he said, it was revealed that one of the arrested accused parked the explosives-laden Suzuki pick-up at the site of Abbas Town blast. He said that Mansoor and Inamullah Mehsud were associated with TTP's Alam Sher group. They are the masterminds of Abbas Town blast, he added.
