National Assembly adopts resolution supporting Kashmiris' struggle

The National Assembly Thursday unanimously passed a resolution supporting struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination. The resolution says that Pakistan will continue its political‚ diplomatic and moral support to Kashmiris in their just struggle for right to self-determination.
The resolution‚ moved by Maulana Fazlur Rehman‚ expressed grave concern over the situation in occupied Kashmir after the execution of Afzal Guru and demanded that his body must be handed over to his heirs. It called upon India to stop brutalities in the occupied Kashmir‚ end draconian laws‚ release all the illegally detained Kashmiris and allow human rights organisations to visit the territory. It said that Pakistan will continue its political‚ diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiris in their just struggle for the right to self-determination. It called upon the United Nations to implement the resolution of the Security Council.
Another resolution unanimously passed by the National Assembly paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto for her invaluable sacrifices for democracy and the people of the country. The resolution moved by Farzana Raja stated that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was a symbol of reconciliation and courage. It said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life for democracy and rights of the people. Her sacrifices will be honoured by strengthening democracy in the country.
