Passport department's poor performance slammed

Deputy Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, has decried the poor working of the Passport department causing numerous problems and hardships to the public. He said that passport was the basic right and an important need of the citizens but the present rulers had made it an uphill task.
He noted that more than six lakh applications for passport were pending with the department for the last three months and the applicants were making desperate efforts for the issuance of the document despite having paid urgent fee, but in vain. Many a people were facing visa problems while others had lost their jobs. He said that the rulers were on their way out but still they were causing problems for the masses. Farid Piracha demanded that passports be issued within a fortnight and the atmosphere at the Passport office be improved and modernised.
