Vehicle amnesty scheme: Official empowered to adjudicate cases

The Federal Board of Revenue has empowered Additional Collector of Customs and Deputy Collector of Customs Model Customs Collectorates (MCCs) to exercise adjudication powers in cases under amnesty scheme meant for legalisation of non-duty paid smuggled cars. In this regard, the FBR has issued an S.R.O.209(I)/2013 here on Friday.
According to the notification, the FBR has directed for the adjudication of cases falling under Notification No S.R.O.172(I)/2013, dated March 5, 2013, for which the following officers are authorised:- Additional Collector of Customs, Model Customs Collectorates is empowered to exercise the powers of the Collector of Customs under clause (i) of sub-section (1) of section 179 of the Customs Act and the Deputy Collector of Customs, Model Customs Collectorates is empowered to exercise the powers of the Additional Collector of Customs under clause (ii) of sub-section (1) of section 179 of the Customs Act.
