For the first time in the history, Sindh Government's employees/officials (grade 01 to 20) received shields and Ajraks on their best performance, and many of them could not stop their tears on this occasion of great love and appreciation. Relief department's employees/officials received shields and Ajraks from the hands of Haleem Adil Shaikh, Adviser to Chief Minister for Relief and President PML-Q (Sindh chapter).
The event organised by Shaikh at his residence here on the night of Friday, was attended by a large number of employees of Relief department, Sports department, personal staff of Haleem Adil Shaikh, their families, children and many others. Haleem Adil Shaikh presented shields and Ajraks to every employee of the department from peon to additional relief commissioner and his personal staff who all had worked hard "to make possible the relief operation during the flood 2012 and measles outbreak".
Those who received shields and Ajraks were Malik Abbas, Mohammad Saleh, Ghulam Rasool Barecho, Mukhtiar Ahmed, Adam Ali, Shoukat, Javaid Ahmed, Raqeeb Ahmed, Kazim Hussein, Khalid Masood Khan, Sintosh Kumar, Mohammad Umar, Nazeer Ahmed, Rehmatullah, Mohammad Hanif and others.
It may be noted here that Haleem Adil Shaikh is only Adviser/Minister who gave biggest level respect to his team of relief department while many other minister just visited offices and made handshake with employees/officials. Addressing the occasion, Haleem Adil Shaikh said he and his team of department was satisfied as they all had done their jobs with sincerity, honesty and sprit of real service.
He said that though Relief Department had only 15-member staff but they had served the millions of flood affected people on war-footing and reached every area where flood came and people affected. "Before taking of charge, Relief Department was only a "supply depot" but we made it operational and change it in a disaster management and relief provision institution," he said.
Haleem added "not only international world, but President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad and others gave me appreciation and admire my efforts as team leader." He admitted that despite the admirable efforts, Relief Department could not do work on the "required scale" as "we could not be provided even due support from the concerned quarters and obstacles were came in our ways all the time."
He criticised the role of NDMA, PDMA and NGOs during the flood 2012 and said that if those organisations would have supported us, Relief Department would have create revolution in the lives of innocent flood-affected people. Shaikh endorsed the positive role of media on the occasion, announcing that he would arrange a big event in the honour of those media professionals who supported the cause of flood-2012. Awards would be given to them, he added.
On the occasion, many employees/officials of relief department also spoke, saying it was only Haleem Adil Shaikh who gave us a lot of respect otherwise many other ministers only came in the offices and said "good bye" to all officials/employees of the departments. They said "shields and Ajraks gave us more courage to serve the province and its people with new sprit and whenever people would feel our support, we would work more efficiently in comparison of previous experience," they vowed.
