Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan has said the nation was expecting that the Prime Minister would tender an apology for the failures of his government but it was stunned when the Premier began to recount the so called achievements of his government during his address.
He said that the PPP-led coalition government had set a new record of loot and plunder in the country. "The Zardari government looted the public exchequer with both hands from the day one and even drew out its last penny on the last day while the Sindh Assembly, most shamelessly, enhanced the salaries and perks of its members," he added.
The JI chief was addressing a big public meeting at Jail Chowk, Gujrat, at the launch of the party's election campaign.
Nuclear scientist Dr A Qadeer Khan in his address said he had come to the masses with the JI leadership in order to assess how much love the masses had for him. "The nation must prove in the general election that it stands with those who wanted to safeguard the country's existence and built it as a truly Islamic and developed state," he added.
He said that if the nation supported the JI candidates, the energy crisis in the country would be overcome within the shortest time and the country's sovereignty and integrity would be fully protected. Dr Qadeer said he would go to villages and towns with Munawar Hasan to impress upon the people that they should not axe their own feet by voting for the plunderers again.
