Construction Company Caterpillar has announced the launch of a new smartphone specifically designed for use in extreme conditions. The company claims that thanks to its aluminium frame and shock-absorbent rubber protective casing, the robust Cat B15 can withstand a fall from 1.8 metres unscathed and be submerged for lengthy periods in up to 1 m of water.
The four-inch screen can be used with wet fingers and is protected by Gorilla Glass 2. The phone, which is available from this month at a price of around 430 dollars, runs on Android 4.1 and is powered by a 1.0 GHz dual-core processor.
