Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 199,752 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,670 tonnes of import cargo and 97,082 tonnes of export cargo including 6,167 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 102,670 tonnes comprised 79,996 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,284 tonnes of general cargo; and 15,390 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 97,082 tonnes comprised 84,538 tonnes of containerised cargo; 647 tonnes of general cargo; 11,897 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,009 tonnes of cement and 8,888 tonnes of loose bulk cement. As many as 6,167 containers comprising 3,194 containers import and 2,973 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,142 of 20's and 957 of 40's loaded while 30 of 20's and 54 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 825 of 20's and 414 of 40's loaded containers while 276 of 20's and 522 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are nine ships namely APL Seattle, YM West, TS Jakarta, Hanjin Montevideo, Wan Hai-605, Sea Wave, Capri Cement, success Marlina and Hoegh Dubai with five container ships, two cement carriers, one oil tanker and one vehicles carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are nine vessels viz TS Jakarta, MOL Dignity, Lantau Arrow, Santa Rosa, Hyundai Bangkok, Nave Cassiopia, MT Quetta, King Merry and Hoegh Dubai with five container ships, two oil tankers, one general cargo ship and one vehicles carrier respectively are currently at the berths. One container ship namely MOL Dignity sailed out to sea on Monday, while six ships namely Kota Arif, Hyundai Bangkok, Santa Rosa, Nave Cassiopia, MT Quetta and King Merry with three container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
There are two vessels viz Kota Gentang and Aiegorgis with one container ship and one coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Monday, while five vessels viz UASC Ramadi, Ghang Hang Ma, Oranus, Global Frontier and Lord Byron with one container ship, one jet oil tanker, one cement carrier, one soda ash carrier and one talcum powder ship respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 69,000 tonnes includes 39,140 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,150 tonnes of palm oil; 2,910 tonnes of iron ore; 9,500 tonnes of chemicals and 13,300 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 9,500 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,200 containers comprising 700 containers import and 500 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There are two ships namely MT Bunga Melati Dua and MV Dong Calypso with edible oil and chemicals respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely CV Maersk Utha with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV Maersk Utha, MV Sea Gull-D, MT Bunga Melati Dua, MT Mighty Ocean, MV Dong Calypso, Smart Jessica and MT Al-Soor-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement steel coil, palm oil, chemicals, iron ore and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely Julie Delmas, Argent Daisy, Maritime Yanessa, Chem Road Nova and Birch Two with containers, vegetable oil, palm oil and wheat respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are two vessels viz Julie Delmas and Argent Daisy with containers and palm oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. One container ship namely CV Alliance Norfolk is due to arrive on Monday as per arrival schedule.
