Taiwan stocks retreated 0.52 percent on Wednesday, with PC vendor Acer falling 1.1 percent after posting on Tuesday a bigger-than-estimated loss in the fourth quarter. The main TAIEX index fell 40.44 points to 7,798.03, after opening flat, with electronics shares easing 0.7 percent. Financial shares were up 0.4 percent. The Taiwan dollar edged up T$0.010 to stand at T$29.791 to the US dollar.
