Interim bail of former minister extended

22 Mar, 2013

The Lahore High Court on Thursday extended interim bail of former federal minister Ghulam Sarwar, involved in securing graduation degree on the basis of bogus intermediate certificate. The court extended the bail to March 29 as arguments of an additional prosecutor and former minister's counsel were still in progress.
The prosecutor said Sarwar obtained a duplicate diploma equivalent to intermediate from Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) originally issued to another candidate of namesake but his father's name was different. He said Sarwar used the duplicate diploma for appearing in graduation examinations and obtained B.A degree from Islamia University Bahawalpur. The prosecutor said Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) investigated the matter and lodged a case against board's officials and Sarwar.
