President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) on Chief of Staff of the UAE's Armed Forces Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammad Thani Al Rumaithy during a special investiture ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The citation read on the occasion said: "In recognition of his professional achievements and endeavours for strengthening the friendship and co-operation between UAE and Pakistan Armed Forces and between the two countries, he has been conferred the award of Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military)."
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Secretary to President Nasreen Haque, Secretary Defence Lieutenant General (Retd) Asif Yasin Malik, Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani and other senior officials were present on the occasion in addition to the Spokesperson to the President, Senator Farhatullah Babar.
The UAE side included Essa Abdullah Al Basha Al Noaimi, Ambassador, Staff Brigadier Abdul Rehman Sabt Mubarak Al Murri, Director of Logistic, GHQ, Staff Brigadier Khalaf Nasir Rashid Al Qubaisi, PSO to COS and Colonel (Staff) Ghanem Ali Ghanem Al-Ali, Military Attaché. Later, Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammad Thani Al Rumaithy, along with delegation, called on the President, who extended an invitation to Sheikh Khalifa, the UAE ruler, to visit Pakistan.
