Country needs 'experienced' leadership: Nawaz

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that Pakistan needed a matured and experienced leadership to tackle the manifold challenges confronting the country. Addressing a convention of the party activists, who have applied from across the country for PML-N tickets to contest the forthcoming general elections here at the PML-N Secretariat at Model Town, Nawaz said that current situation faced by the country demanded sincerity, maturity and dedicated efforts.
He made it clear he had no lust for power and waging a just struggle for changing the fate of the country. Nawaz further said the PML-N had given the names of honest and best personalities for the caretaker setup He said former justice Nasir Aslam Zahid had declined to take oath from a dictator under PCO while it was the PML-N which nominated former Justice Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui as party candidate for the office of President.
The PML-N leadership from Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Raja Zafar ul Haq, Iqbal Zafar Jhaggra, Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Mushahidullah Khan, Syed Mamnoon Hussein, Syed Nihal Hashmi, Nawab Lashkari Raisani, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Sardar Zulifqar Khosa, Mohammad Pervaiz Malik, and others were present on the occasion.
Expressing his firm resolve to bring real change in the country, Nawaz said the PML-N would not only turn Pakistan into an Asian tiger, but also try its level best to rid the country of all the problems including terrorism, load shedding and unemployment. Without naming anybody, Nawaz said there were many fake fighters who neither had any track record nor agenda for future. He said such elements were not aware of the real problems faced by the country.
Criticizing former president, he said that Musharraf was a short sighted person who surrendered before the then US Secretary of State on a telephone call while setting aside national interests. He reminded that it was the PML-N leadership which turned down US offer of US $5 billion and conducted nuclear explosions.
The PML-N President said that if the nation gave them an opportunity in the forthcoming elections, they would link Karachi with the Motorway apart from giving underground mass transit system to Karachi and bullet trains from Karachi to Peshawar and Karachi to Quetta.
He advised those aspirants of the PML-N tickets who were not chosen not to lose their hearts and they would be accommodated later on. He asked the party activists to devote their energies for the success of PML-N candidates to secure the future of coming generations. Later the PML-N President took oath from party candidates that "if elected as members of the parliament they would play their effective role for eradication of corruption at all levels and also sincerely strive for bringing revolutionary change in the country."
