The Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar Engr Imtiaz H Gilani on Friday laid foundation stone of Department of Industrial and Mechanical Engineering (DIME), at its Jalozai Campus. The Jalozai Campus of UET, Peshawar approved at the cost of Rs 6.56 billion will be a fully residential campus constructed at 400acre land.
Speaking at the ceremony, the University Vice Chancellor said the occasion is the realisation of a dream that will continue improving high quality education to the local people. On the occasion, the varsity Registrar Professor Abdul Jabbar, Advisor Finance Muhammad Sarwar Khan, Heads of Teaching Departments and senior University staff, faculty members and the administrative staff were present.
Engr Imtiaz Gilani further added that standard of the University is based on its quality of education and Jalozai Campus must follow the chain. On completion of Jalozai campus, the total student enrolment, including Peshawar and satellite campuses, will be doubled up to 8,000, the faculty to 200 and introduction of state-of-the-art laboratories would definitely make a huge difference in delivering quality education.
The Vice Chancellor said the University is doing considerable work, as eight academic blocks would be constructed phase wise, adding, the Civil engineering and Electrical engineering Departments are almost near completion while civil work on Industrial engineering and Mechanical engineering has started with the groundbreaking of these departments at the cost of Rs 310 million.
He added that the development of human resources is a central tenet of the University policy, and the initiative would considerably add to the human resource development of Jalozai Campus as more than 100 scholars are currently pursuing PhDs' at world known universities. Later on, the delegation walked through the Civil and Electrical engineering departments who appreciated the quality of work.
