The 'Pakistan Day' was also celebrated at Pakistan Embassy in Berlin and a flag-hoisting ceremony was also held to commemorate this day. Pakistan Ambassador in Berlin, Abdul Basit, while congratulating the Pakistani community, said that with the strengthening of democracy, Pakistan is slowly but surely moving towards making itself a country of peace and prosperity.
He emphasised that the people of Pakistan have gone through many challenges and difficult times. But now, as we are consolidating the gains of democracy, there is every reason to be optimistic about a bright future awaiting Pakistan. He said intolerance and extremism are antithetical to the spirit of democracy. The overwhelming majority of Pakistanis is of progressive people.
They would not allow extremism to dent their resolve to develop a society based on justice and rule of law. Pakistan's Ambassador hoisted the national flag in the ceremony with national anthem playing in the background, said a press release issued here. The ceremony was attended by a large number of Pakistanis residing in Berlin and its surrounding cities and the officials of the Embassy.
