The senate of the university of Sindh endorsed recommendations made by the appointment committee in revised version of model tenure track statues and implementation for appointment of faculty under tenure track system and approved the revised statues regarding promotion of meritorious professors to BPS-22. The approval was granted at the 34th session of the university's senate held at the university's Allama I I Kazi campus on Sunday with Vice Chancellor Dr Nazir A. Mughal in the chair.
The meeting approved purchase of a car at depreciated price for the Vice Chancellor on the completion of his tenure and accorded conditional approval to conversion of MPhil degree to PhD for the appointment of assistant professor. It also approved the new criteria 2013 of HEC for appointment of faculty and agreed the matter regarding amendments for confirmation rule for new appointments in the teachers' post of Sindh University for a period of two years at least with five to eight presentations and a research.
The meeting also confirmed the minutes of the 33rd meeting of the senate held on February 03, 2010, and noted the follow-up actions taken by the office on the various resolutions passed by the senate at its 33rd meeting. In addition to it, the senate approved annual budget for the years 2008-9, 2009-10 and 2010-11, granted revised budget for the years 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 and also sanctioned budget estimates for the years 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13. The meeting passed the annual reports for the years 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 after considering deeply. The meeting also approved to confer a degree honoris causa (honorary degree) on veteran intellectual Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo and a posthumous degree on Dr N.A. Baloch for their unmatched services in the fields of literature and history.
The meeting was attended by former Justice Hamid Ali Mirza, HEC representative Talat Khurshid, senate members Dr Anwer Ali Shah G. Syed, Registrar Mohammad Nawaz Narejo, Dr Imdad Ali Ismaili, Dr Mohammad Siddique Kalhoro, Dr Sarfaraz Solangi, Dr Asad Larik, Dr Abida Taherani, Dr Naeem Tariq Narejo, Advocate Jhamat Jethanand, Dr Rizwana Chang, Imran Halepoto, Ayaz Qadri and others. The Vice Chancellor informed the meeting that focal person for the university's Sukkur campus would be appointed soon and Malir campus would be opened shortly for which a building had already been acquired. He hoped caretaker chief minister would approve the Malir campus. He said the USAID had provided $35 million for constructing a beautiful edifice (for education department) in the old campus in Hyderabad which would be built in three months.
