Supreme Court accepts unconditional apology of local loop operator

The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday accepted unconditional apology of a local loop operator LDI for filing a suit against Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) before Sindh High Court (SHC) by concealing facts. The bench also directed the CCP to decide the matter of additional tax on incoming international calls within 30-day from April 01.
The respondent also undertook before the court to immediately withdraw the suit filed before the SHC. The CCP had issued show cause notices to many operators in light of SC directions and the operators had obtained a stay order from SHC by concealing the proceedings pending before the apex court.
Later, the CCP had filed a contempt petition before the SC and the court had on last hearing suspended the stay order issued by the SHC. On Wednesday, the bench headed by Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani disposed of the contempt petition and directed the operators to appear before the CCP on April 01 which decide the matter additional tax within next 30-days.
