Jamaat-i-Islami urges parties to field honest candidates

28 Mar, 2013

Ameer, Jamaat-i-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, said the JI expected all the parties to issue tickets only to the men of integrity and good character and cleansing the parties from the black sheep. Talking to the different delegations at Mansoora on Wednesday, he said that all the political parties should issue tickets to the people who camp up to the requirements of the articles 62 and 63 of the constitution and the Election Commission should do the final sifting.
Syed Munawar Hasan said if the political parties issued tickets to the corrupt and incompetent people again, the country and the nation are doomed. He said that responsibility of the loot and plunder by the assembly members rested with the parties on whose ticket they got elected. The country, he said, is already on the brink of disaster and it has gone bankrupt due to the plunder of the outgoing rulers. The industry and agriculture have been ruined, and the life of the common man has been made miserable due to price spiral. The nation now needs a leadership that could solve all these problems, he added.
The JI Ameer said that the Election Commission has made tall claims but so far no practical measures have been taken to implement these as the same old faces are seen filing their nomination papers who have driven the country and the nation into the mire of deprivations. He also impressed upon the JI workers and leaders to step up their contact with the people in order to obstruct the election of such black sheep.
