Policeman among seven killed in Karachi

At least seven persons, including a policeman, were killed in different incidents of violence in the city on Friday, police and rescue sources said. A police Sub-Inspector named Manzoor Ilahi, 45, was gunned down near Shanwari Restaurant on Mauripur Road in the limits of Kalri police station. According to police officials, the deceased was deployed in the same area. The body was later moved to Civil Hospital Karachi.
Another man named Abdul Hameed, 47, was shot dead in the Mehran Town area in the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police station. He lived in the same area. Sources said that deceased was also the head of a private NGO. Police said that the deceased had been shot inside a mosque while he was praying. The body was later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Dileep Lal, 22, was gunned down in the Old Haji Camp area in the limits of Napier police station. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi. A security guard named Sher Badshah and an alleged robber, later identified as Salman Rizvi, were killed in a botched robbery attempt near Disco Bakery in the limits of Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station. Police said that the security guard intercepted the robbers and opened fire on them, adding that robbers also fired back. Other accomplices of the alleged robber killed in the incident managed to flee the crime scene. Police has registered a case 169/13 under Section 302 of PPC.
Meanwhile, police claimed finding body of a man stuffed in a gunny bag near Usman-e-Ghani Mosque in the limits of Clifton police station. Police is trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased. The remains were later moved to JPMC. Meanwhile, a city warden named Muhammad Abbas was shot dead and two other wardens named Sajid and Shahzad were injured in firing by unknown gunmen near the Matric Board Office in Nazimabad.
