The Lahore High Court on Friday provisionally allowed two candidates to contest elections and issued a notice to the Election Commission in this regard. The court allowed a petitioner Malik Asghar to participate elections and directed the Election Commission to include his name in the voters' list.
Asghar submitted that he wanted to contest elections for a National Assembly seat from Faisalabad but his name was missing in the electoral rolls. In another petition moved by a bar member Naila Wali, the court directed the Election Commission not to stop her from submitting her nomination forms from Lahore.
Wali submitted that she lived in Lahore but her vote had been shifted to Karachi. She said she wanted to contest election on a special seat from Lahore, but because her name was missing from the voters' list, she could not participate in the elections from Lahore.
