Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has launched a fund raising campaign in the country to support candidates who could not afford election expenses, PTI's chairman Imran Khan said on Friday. He said that the campaign titled 'Naya Pakistan Fund' was aimed at helping people from middle and lower classes to join politics and replace "the corrupt mafia".
"Only a specific class, which has become rich by plundering national wealth, can take part in politics whereas educated youngsters cannot even think about it just because of their poor financial conditions," he said. Earlier, PTI leader Syed Javed said that the people could get relevant information about the Fund by visiting the website: election.insaf.pk. Lauding party workers' efforts, the PTI chief said that other parties were spending billions of rupees on their social media campaigns, but PTI had volunteers to do this uphill task. "This demonstrates that money cannot compete with passion," he said. Imran was of the view that upcoming elections would decide the fate of country.
"Punjab government launched Metro Bus Service but it did not pay any heed to poor conditions in hospitals and educational institutions," he said. Imran said that a major test for PTI was distribution of party tickets, adding: "We are trying to distribute party tickets on merit, besides shortlisting fair people. But I promise my colleagues that PTI will distribute 25 percent tickets to the youth," he said. Ruling out the possibility of forming alliances with any party, Imran Khan said that the PTI would not make seat adjustment arrangement with any banned outfit. Khan also referred to his meeting with the caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Najam Sethi and said that a major party of Punjab was trying to 'adjust' their blue-eyed in the caretaker set up but Najam Sethi had rejected their demand.
