Internal differences are beyond the control of the PPP leadership and they will sharpen ahead of the upcoming elections, Chief of PML-F Pir Syed Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi (Pir Pagara) told media persons at Raja House here on Saturday. On this occasion, PML-N's former central secretary information Sardar Abdul Rahim and Syed Zulifqar Shah from Tando Mohammad Khan announced joining the Functional League.
Pir Pagara said that PPP was a national party, but it lost its standing after the completion of its five-year tenure in government at federal and Sindh levels. He said that PML-F was awarding tickets to prospective candidates who could definitely secure seats in the elections, adding that the Functional League would emerge as the "biggest party of Sindh in this election". He said that while new people were joining PML-F, veteran leaders were also working hard to establish the party's position. "Elections would be a source of change for PML-F, Sindh and the country," Pir Pagara said.
Condemning the school attack in Karachi, he said that he had already predicted that the law and order situation in Karachi and elsewhere in the country would worsen ahead of elections. Answering a question, Pir Pagara said that PML-F and its allied parties had already expressed their reservations on the selection of the caretaker chief minister of Sindh, and moved court. "We are now waiting for the court's verdict."
He said that PML-F and its allies would take active part in election but it did not compulsorily meant that "we would accept the election results". "PML-F cannot compete with PPP in terms of monetary clout, but we would fight it with a strong support of the masses. Perhaps, PPP was unable to rig (elections) in Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but they have managed to rig elections in Sindh using money, police and other illegal means," the PML-F chief claimed.
Commenting on Pervez Musharraf, he said that the former military ruler had no political future, adding that he had advised Musharraf not to return. "Now, instead of gaining strength, Pervez (Musharraf) has lost his previous position." Pir Pagara said that he had not met with the APML Chief yet, but he would soon meet Pervez Musharraf.
