The renowned ride hailing app Uber has finally launched its affordable bike ride, the uberMOTO, in Pakistan.
The service was already available in different countries but has now been launched in Pakistan. The service is initially only available in Lahore, before it will be extended it to other cities. Lahoris would be able to have a quick, convenient and everyday affordable means of transportation through uberMOTO.
As per Tech Juice, a ‘Safety Town Hall’ was conducted for the uberMOTO drivers where the company’s team disclosed some safety features present in the app for the drivers along with safety tips such as wearing of safety helmets for both driver and rider and more.

As Uber Blog explained, to use the service, user would have to download the Uber app and sign up. Then they would have to slide left and select ‘uberMOTO’ and request the ride. The basic fare of the ride is Rs. 23, per mile is Rs. 7, per minute is Rs. 1, and the minimum fare will be of Rs. 36.
The blog also gave some of the sample fares within the city for instance; a trip from Liberty Bazaar to Model Town would cost around Rs. 49-64, from Mall Toad to Hussain Chowk in around Rs. 89-111, from Arfa Towers to Racecourse in Rs. 92-115, and from Samanabad to Anarkali in just Rs. 64-79 and so on.
The General Manager of Uber Pakistan, Safee Shah expressed, “Motorbikes are a fundamental part of Pakistan’s transportation network and as such this is a great opportunity to launch uberMOTO, which will provide more mobility options catered to the needs of people in Pakistan.”
Talking about how this service can also create new job opportunities, Shah said, “uberMOTO continues to support our commitment to provide affordable safe and reliable means of transportation while also creating additional job opportunities in Pakistan.”
