Phillippe Thiebaud, French Ambassador in Pakistan, has stressed on transparent election, saying if elections are free and fair, democracy would strengthen and take firm root in Pakistan. He was talking to media after a gong ceremony held at trading hall of Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) here on Friday. KSE officials were present on the occasion.
He said it was laudable that previous government had completed its five-year tenure and the elections were going to be held in Pakistan to throw up a new government. He emphasised that election should be held on time and with complete transparency so that it contributed towards strengthening democratic process in Pakistan.
Phillippe Thiebaud said France and Pakistan had bilateral relations and his country had always supported Pakistan on political and economic issues and that trend of co-operation would continue in future as well, he added. On the occasion, KSE Managing Director Nadeem Naqvi told media that "France is a friendly country for Pakistan and it has always supported us through thick and thin. We need their support on investment side whether it is in KSE or in any other sector or institution."
