100 scientists to be given research productivity awards

The Ministry of Science and Technology announced Research Productivity Awards to more than 100 Scientists of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) for their innovative contribution to the field of research and education. This was stated by Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor UAF while presiding over the Dean's Committee meeting here on Saturday in New Syndicate Hall.
He termed it historic landmark of the Institution of Higher Learning in Agriculture. Dr Khan said that University has finalised Vision 2030 keeping in view to fulfil future challenges confronting to agricultural sector of the Country as well as University. He added that another Satellite Campus would be established at Renala Khurd for the purpose of technology transfer on the doorstep of small farmer.
UAF Vice Chancellor was of the view that Varsity is planning to introduce dozens of new Degree and Associate Degree programmes from new educational year. He maintained that Bio-Informatics, D-Pharmacy, BBA, Bio-Medical Science and other programmes would also be initiated under this programme. He also added that planning commission of Pakistan has allocated funds for the construction of New Lecture Theatres at New Campus. Vice Chancellor urged the scientists to come with new technological agronomic packages for the poor farmers so that they could achieve maximum yield potential from own available resources. He added that more than 50 percent course contents would be placed on website for student's community to facilitate them through online learning mechanism. He emphasised that scientists should translate their scientific knowledge for the benefit of common man instead of raising their impact factor through publishing their research articles in various journals.
