Raja's nomination papers rejected

The nomination papers of former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf were rejected by the Retur-ning Officer on Sunday for NA-51 Rawalpindi constituency. The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader and ex-premier of the country is currently facing a mega corruption case pertaining to rental power projects.
The immediate-past prime minister has been accused of misappropriating funds and indulging in nepotism. The former prime minister had submitted his nomination papers for NA-51, Gujjar Khan.
Rejecting the papers, the RO said that apparently the former premier did not fulfil the criteria of 'Sadiq' and 'Ameen.'
Earlier, an RO in Gujranwala also rejected the nomination paper of another PPP Leader and former federal minister Imtiaz Safdar Warraich for NA-98 Gujranwala.
The RO, while rejecting the papers, said that Warraich did not fulfil the qualification criteria under Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution. "Waraich has submitted wrong detail of his assets," the RO said.
