Lahore constituencies: Nawaz, Shahbaz, Imran and Baloch cleared

Returning Officers (ROs) of 13 National Assembly and 25 Punjab Assembly seats in Lahore accepted nomination papers of major contestants, including Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Sharif, Liaquat Baloch on the final day of scrutiny of nomination papers here on Sunday.
According to sources, nomination papers of more than 500 candidates were cleared for 13 National Assembly seats of Lahore. They included Javed Hashmi, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Naveed Chaudhry, Farid Paracha, Hafiz Saman Butt, Humayun Akhtar, Kashmala Tariq, Aisha Ahad.
The Election Commission also accepted nomination papers of more than 1,000 candidates contesting 25 Punjab Assembly seats in the provincial capital.
Meanwhile, a PPP candidate for NA 120, Suhail Malik, who had filed 11 objections against the candidature of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, said he would file a petition in the Election Tribunal against the decision of the Returning Officer. He claimed that Nawaz Sharif was ineligible to contest elections because he had been convicted in the Asghar Khan and other cases.
