Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to declare those sugar millers ineligible to contest coming general elections who have yet to pay dues of sugarcane growers. KBP President Sardar Zafar Hussein Khan in a statement issued here Tuesday alleged that the sugar millers had to pay billion of rupees to the growers.
He said that owners of such mills were contesting forthcoming general elections. He said that the election commission should reject the nomination papers of defaulter sugar mill owners or take appropriate guarantee for payments to sugarcane growers. He also appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of default or late payment by sugar mills and ensure payment to the sugarcane growers at the earliest.
KBP Chief also appealed to the millions of voters of the country to take such defaulters accountable by not voting in favour of such sugar millers.
