Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) while expressing serious worries over the proposals to observe two holidays in a week, has demanded of the government to drop the idea of two holidays, as an extra holiday would further spoil the things.
PIAF Chairman Tahir Javed Malik in a statement on Wednesday said that two holidays would halt business activities and lay very negative impacts on economy, as banks and other concerned government departments would remain closed for two days. He said that export oriented industry was suffering, as it has to wait two days for their necessary documentation.
He said that two holidays were not helping the government aim to save energy rather would cause more troubles for the business community, which was already passing through crucial circumstances. PIAF Chairman said that government should enhance power generation despite taking meaningless measures to overcome the energy crises and urged the government to enhance hydel power generation to accelerate the industrial process in the country.
He demanded of the government to end discrimination with Punjab in electricity supply as bill recovery in Punjab is 99 per cent. Despite the fact, the industry of Punjab was facing more than 12-hour long load shedding while situation in some parts of the country were quite different.
