In the latest twist in the ephedrine quota allotment scam on Friday, another accused Tauqir Ali Khan, allegedly a front man of Ali Musa Gilani, a son of former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, agreed to become approver against him. Tauqir Ali Khan appeared before Arshad Mehmmod Tabassum, a judge of Special Anti-Narcotics Force Court, requesting the judge to become an approver against Ali Musa Gilani in the case.
He had been declared an absconder by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the case and was arrested upon his return from Dubai by ANF personnel. ANF investigators Abid Zulfiqar also submitted an application in this regard, but the court did not record his statement because of shortage of time and adjourned the hearing till April 15. According to ANF investigators, Tauqir was the front man of Musa Gilani and played a mediator's role between health officials and two pharmaceutical companies - Berlix and Danas.
