Nadra launches pension disbursement project

14 Apr, 2013

Nadra, in collaboration with EOBI has launched Pension Disbursement Project on the directives of the President of Pakistan for all the pensioners enrolled with EOBI. Pension shall be disbursed to EOBI pensioners holding Chip based Smart National Identity Card (SNIC) of Nadra at e-Sahulat points spread nation-wide.
Tariq Malik, Chairman Nadra said that it is the first time in Pakistan that EOBI pensioners will receive pensions through SNIC with the live biometric verification will also be performed at Nadra e-Sahulat franchisees across Pakistan, enabling record of proof-of-life of pensioners. This will bring transparency in pension disbursement and result in financial savings.
He further said that the EOBI pensioners will have the option to withdraw their pension from additional 5,000 e-Sahulat locations across the country without any hassle or stress. The SNIC based system is designed to disburse the pension close to the pensioner location and facilitate them to avoid long queues or wait. To further facilitate the pensioners, Nadra and EOBI agreed to offer the SNIC free of cost and the processing shall be done in the executive category.
Moreover, this disbursement system will not only minimise pensioners' miseries in acquisition of their pensions but also enable EOBI for effective management of the cash disbursement, online verification and proof-of-life at the time of transaction and 24/7 technical and operational support.
Nadra with its time tested network of e-Sahulat facilities has successfully disturbed the first pension in Lahore and Islamabad on March7, 2013. This is indeed an iconic milestone achieved by Nadra and EOBI and gives a boost to e-governance in Pakistan. As progress continues in Pakistan, we get closer to the vision of our great leader Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, he added.
Chairman Nadra Tariq Malik's initiation of SNIC revolution made this project possible as the SNIC had built-in robust international standard security features. SNIC will allow the government to enable public and private organisations to better facilitate the citizens of Pakistan with security, avoiding malpractices and, above all, promote the socio-economic development in the country.
Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari has taken notice of the problems faced by pensioners and instructed concerned ministries, divisions and authorities including Nadra to develop a new transparent and convenient pension disbursement system that will integrate seamlessly with the existing pension disbursement mechanism and increase outreach for better facilitation of all federal government pensioners.-PR
