MQM will play major role in post-election scenario: Sattar

15 Apr, 2013

MQM will play a major role in the post-election scenario, MQM's Deputy Convenor Dr Farooq Sattar said on Sunday. He said this while talking with media persons after meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-Quad (PML-Q), which was led by its General Secretary, Mushahid Hussain Syed on Saturday.
Dr Sattar believed that officials of law-enforcement agencies were conducting raids in "peaceful" city areas and harassing peace-loving citizens, instead of taking action against terrorist outfits. "Search operations by law-enforcement agencies in (the city's) peaceful areas will definitely badly affect the (party's) election campaign," Dr Sattar said. Earlier, Dr Sattar highlighted good relations between the MQM and PML-Q, adding that manifestos of both parties were very similar on aspects of public interest.
PML-Q leader Mushahid Hussain Syed stressed the need for evolving a national agenda, and said that no party could individually tackle issues currently being faced by the country. "MQM is a national party...it knows how to handle pressure," he maintained.
Matters related to terrorism, economic development and social issues being discussed in the meeting. MQM's Deputy Convenor Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Waseem Aftab, Raza Haroon also attended the meeting. PML-Q's delegation included Haleem Adil Siddiqui, Jafferul Hasan and Rukunuddin Meerani.
