The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has made it clear that no candidate would be allowed to seek votes in the name of religion or sectarianism in the upcoming general elections, scheduled to be held on May 11. ECP issued directives in this regard on Sunday.
The ECP declared that driving out voters from polling stations would be treated as a crime, and providing free transport facility, including vehicles and boats, would be a punishable act.
Canvassing within the perimeter of 400 yards from the polling booths and taking ballot papers out from there also have been declared a punishable crime.
