Taiwan stocks fell 0.7 percent on Monday, as losses in regional bourses weighed on market sentiment for tech exporters such as TSMC and Hon Hai Precision. The main TAIEX index ended at 7,763.53 points, extending a 0.46 percent loss on Friday. TSMC, the world's top contract chip maker, and Hon Hai, the major supplier of Apple's products, both sank more than 1 percent. Notebook PC maker Asustek slumped 4.6 percent.
The broader electronics sub-index shed 1 percent, while financials dropped 1.1 percent. The Taiwan dollar rose by T$0.065 to stand at T$29.930 to the US dollar.
